I am a native English speaker learning Mandarin Chinese in college. I excell at speaking and tone but I struggle with writing characters off the cuff even though I do workbook AND supplemental practice for writing. I can usually recognize the characters alright but even then I struggle. Any tips??
As far as i am concerned, more practice is the best way to improve your Chinese Character writing!
You can find more Chinese resources and materials to learn their writing style, i believe that you can learn a lot from this!
Hope i can helped you, here are 7tips,
1. Learn 20 new words each week, then you will have about 960 more works learned in a year..
2. Learn 3 simple and useful sentences each day..just like chinese daily conversations..remember, learn the simple and useful sentences
3. listen to the tapes of chinese daily conversations when you have a spare time or an half hour ( you can set ur time)
4. watching TV programme "learning chinese" in CCTV international channel (maybe CCTV channel 9)
5. practise speaking english to chinese people who can speak mandarin, and they could correct your pronunciations..then you will improve your chinese..
6.read chinese book or text in PInyin, you can learn some new words, and practice your pronuncitons..and you learn some new and useful Phrases…
7. i dont know…tell me more experiences of learning chinese….thanks

Well, first of all, congratulations! Not everyone can speak Chinese accentlessly (wait is that a word? Lol.). I’m Chinese myself, and I find the words hard to remember! Lol. Anyways, I think the best thing to do is just to practise more. I know that probably isn’t the most helpful advice ever, but that’s what I would do. ^_^ Just try reading more books in Chinese, and stuff like that. Good luck!
